The Engine Room is an academic unit which aims to expand knowledge transfer, third stream funding and access and diversity within the arts. It exchanges ideas and experiences between the academic world, arts professionals, enterprise and the broader community.
The Engine Room fosters collaborative projects and provides expanded opportunities for lifelong learning in the arts.
The Engine Room acknowledges the importance of art as a catalyst for social learning and values providing artistic encounters for those people within a community that may feel excluded from creative opportunities and learning.
The Engine Room believes research, reflection and impact are at the heart of knowledge transfer. Through the joining-up of knowledge and skills through research-orientated practice, it is possible to broaden community and enterprise wisdom and generate lifelong learning networks. Such a philosophy is indicative of a commitment to ethics and corporate social responsibility, while at the same time embracing the success and idiosyncrasies of individuals and groups so vital to creative endeavours.
The Engine Room is built around models of excellence in impact measurement and it is a core part of all projects we conduct and an ongoing part of our mission. The Engine Room considers that long-term sustainability is built on a foundation of quality assurance, evaluation and impact measurement. |
