Merton College Students Get A Taste For Life Drawing PDF Print E-mail
The Engine Room, Wimbledon College of Art, invited a group of year twelve Fine Art students from Merton College to visit the current Gallery Exhibition ‘The Whiteness of Paper’ and afterwards to participate in a life drawing workshop led by artist and tutor Eleanor Bowen.

The students were life drawing novices, so Eleanor devoted the first part of the session to capturing the essence of each pose through a series of rapid sketches. Each then undertook a longer study to develop confidence in their ability to draw and to demonstrate a personal response to the subject.

Far from being intimidated by the process the students approached the tasks with energy, enthusiasm and maturity and fed back that the session was ‘fun’, ‘challenging’, and ‘different’.

The Engine Room hopes to build on these foundations with further workshops led by the needs of the students and staff from Merton College.

Many thanks go to AIMHIGHER, London South for their funding of this project.
