On November 6th this year, Engine Room member, Dr. David Dibosa, participated in a symposium at the TENT centre for visual arts in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Dr. Dibosa spoke about the new approaches to museum practice  being explored in Tate Encounters, the research project looking at Tate, in which  Dr. Dibosa is currently involved.

War Horse
'War Horse' gallops into Wimbledon!
Sarah Sawyer, head of the Performing Arts Specialism at Ricards Lodge conceived a scheme of work to engage her students in the background and events leading up to The First World War and the use of working horses in the battlefields.

She worked with Rachel Lillywhite from The Engine Room to frame the project as a pilot for the new Creative and Media Diploma to be taught in some Merton Schools from September 2009.

Performing in Theory PDF Print E-mail
David Dibosa at Performing in TheoryIn April this year, Engine Room member, David Dibosa, worked in Belgium alongside Dutch film-maker Wendelien van Oldenborgh to make a film about cultural theory. Working together with actors, designer s and a film crew, Dibosa and van Oldenborgh explored the role played by emotion in the transmission of ideas. The film was part of a series of productions currently being made by van Oldenborgh at the MuHKA museum in Antwerp.

Newsflash

Professor Anne Bamford is delighted to announce that an agreement has been signed with the Icelandic Ministry for Education, Science and Culture to conduct a detailed study of the current state of arts and cultural education within Iceland and to propose recommendations to strengthen and enhance provisions and to inform policy and practice. The work will commence immediately and complements work conducted in Belgium, the Netherlands and Denmark. These reports are all available in the publications area of this website.
